Welcome to Sunrise Bungalows, we are located in Turtle Bay, Manuapen, on the South East of the Island of Tanna, close to Mt Yasur Volcano and Port Resolution. Our collection of bungalows and our restaurant are situated on top of a tree lined cliff overlooking the South Pacific Ocean. Here you can enjoy the breeze while viewing the coral reef below or Cook's Point Island at the end of the long stretch of secluded beach. Sunrise is locally built, owned and managed and sits in harmony with the surrounding environment. Whether you are looking for a relaxing snorkel in our coral reef, are interested in local customs or the excitement of experiencing Mt. Yasur, an active volcano, Sunrise Bungalows is a wonderful choice.
We have several bungalows to suit your needs for singles, couples, families or groups, with either private or shared western style toilet and shower facilities. There is also space for camping and we do have spare tents if required. Mosquito nets are provided and we have our own generator for night time lighting and a fresh water supply.
Rates are inclusive of: - 12.5% government tax - 100 vatu per night per bungalow Tourism Development levy - Complementary tropical breakfast Policy on children staying with parents: Children of all ages are welcome. However, travelling with infants under 2 years old to remote islands is not recommended. - Children 0-6 years: Free of Charge - Children 6-12 years are charged 2,000 vatu per night per child in all room categories. Cancellation Policy: - 4 days prior to arrival: 50% of booked accommodation will be charged as a cancellation fee. - 2 days prior to arrival: 100% of booked accommodation will be charged as a cancellation fee. Complementary breakfast includes bread, preservatives and fruit, with lemonade, tea, or our locally grown organic coffee.
Our excellent afternoon and evening meals are a mix of western and local styles. You can experience the wonders of local traditional food such as Lap Lap Cassava, Little Island Cabbage Roll Lap Lap, Taro Fiji, Island Taro and Kumala. Or if you prefer, sandwiches, spaghetti, fish, steak and lobster are also available. Additionally, we can cater for vegetarians. Fresh vegetable and fruit ingredients are hand picked from our garden adjacent to the bungalows. A la carte main course meals in the restaurant average 1200Vt per person. There is no bar in the restaurant, however you are welcome to bring your own alcohol.
Airport return transfer is via our Air Conditioned Mitsubishi Bajero 4WD (see photo opposite). The scenic journey takes approimately 1 hour 30 minutes and allows you to take in the sites of Mt Yasur and the day to day life of the friendly island locals.
Air Vanuatu Domestic Airlines and Sunrise Bungalows are providing Tanna Day Tour packages (minimum of 2 people) on Monday to Wednesdays and Saturdays in our air conditioned 4WD. These packages include return Vila transfers (hotel/airport/hotel), airfare, transport, volcano tours, lunch and tour guide.
